PROPERTY TAX RATE SET BY HOLDERNESS BOARD OF SELECTMEN

At a special meeting of the Holderness Board of Selectmen held on Tuesday, November 1, the Selectmen set a tax rate for 2005 of $13.44 per thousand of property value, down from last year’s rate of $13.45. Tax bills will be sent to all taxpayers by Friday, November 11, and payments will be due no later than Wednesday, December 14.
The four components that make up the tax rate this year are as follows:

The total amount of taxes committed by the Selectmen to Tax Collector Ellen King for the year is $7,590,509 on a town valuation for all taxable property within Holderness of $568,529,898.
Through prudent management of expenditures and conservatively estimating non-property tax revenues, the Selectmen were able to utilize $40,000. of Fund Balance to lessen the increase in the tax rate.
