                        VETERANS' MEMORIAL COMMITTEE MINUTES

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11, 2007      6:30 PM      HOLDERNESS LIBRARY    P.1 OF 1

In attendance, Harry Decker, Pat Ford, Ed Ford, Tom Thompson, Barbara Currier, Russell Moren, Sandy Ray

6:30 PM all members met on library lawn to conduct measurements. At 7:00 PM the members adjourned to the library interior to conduct the business of the meeting.

As no one had a copy of the minutes of the March 20, 2007 meeting with them, acceptance of the minutes was postponed to the next meeting.

Harry Decker moved, Tom Thompson seconded and the vote was unanimous (7-0 in favor) of asking the select board for permission to position the temporary honor roll in the place currently being considered as the most viable location for a new monument in order to assess that position and, additionally, to remove the old honor roll.

Ed Ford reported that further work with Sherri Gould on the list of confirmed veterans has been delayed due to her being sick and then going on vacation. At present there are 297 confirmed names, 110 unconfirmed. He mentioned the discovery of 3 new websites that should assist the project of confirming the remaining veterans.

Harry Decker reported he has been unable to connect with Sid Lovett regarding using the Historical Society's 501 C3 status for fundraising for the new monument. It was suggested that he contact the Mardens, active members of the Historical Society, for this information.

Ed Ford volunteered to contact the Ashland Legion Post to determine the proper way to dispose of the old honor roll.

The next meeting is scheduled for May 3rd, 6:30 PM at the Holderness Library.

Pat Ford moved, Ed Ford seconded and the vote was unanimous (7-0 in favor) of adjourning the meeting at 7:57 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Sandy Ray
