MEMORIAL COMMITTEE MINUTES
Wednesday, April 5th, 2006 6:30 PM Town Hall 11th meeting
In attendance: Pat Ford, Ed Ford, Barbara Currier, Tom Thompson, Sandy Ray
Call to order: 6:42 by Ed Ford
It was moved and seconded and the vote was unanimous (5-0 in favor) to accept the minutes as presented. Pat and Ed Ford and Barbara Currier did not receive copies of the minutes in the mail from the town office as previously established nor did they appear on the town website. Tom Thompson did receive a mailed copy. Sandy Ray will check into the problem with Dee at the town office.
Ed Ford reported that more time is needed to complete the name search work. The new dates for newspaper notices and mass mailing is May 11, 13 or 14th (Union Leader), and the 18th.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 4th @ 7:00PM @ the town hall.
Sarah Perry sent a conceptual drawing accompanied by a written estimate based on 3 stones of non-polished premium gray granite measuring 5’-6” X 0-8” X 4’-0 to be set on gray granite bases measuring 6’-0 X 1’-0 X 0-8” and a beveled- top stone for the mission statement measuring 4’-0 X 1’6” X 0-10”. (See attached copy of her letter.)
Tom Thompson offered to construct some mock up “stones” from plywood using the proposed dimensions. These will be used to determine the most feasible location for the monument placement. Ed Ford proposed a gathering of the library trustees and the memorial committee once the mock ups are made. Sandy Ray stated that the library trustees have a building planning session tentatively scheduled in the next 2 weeks that could provide an opportunity to meet with at least some of the members of the memorial committee. (The trustee meetings are scheduled usually in the morning on weekdays.) She will notify the members of the memorial committee once a date has been firmly set by the library trustees.
With no other business to conduct, Sandy Ray moved, Pat Ford seconded, and the vote was unanimous (5-0 in favor) to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandy Ray
