BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
JAN.3, 2006

Treasurer’s Report: Amanda Loud moved, Suzanne Peoples seconded and the vote was unanimous (4-0 in favor) of accepting the treasurer’s report as presented.
Old Business: Larry Webster reported the following: that the required deposit for the construction of the new exterior library sign was paid and the sign is under construction; a newly constructed overhang has been installed over the rear doors of the library; the air conditioners were removed; the front entrance was sealed with weather stripping; and the sticky rear door problem was solved.
The new window shades purchased from Baker Valley Floors to replace the former “window quilts” were installed in the original section of the library.
Suzanne and Larry spent considerable time working with Frank from Certified Computer Solutions to learn more about using the Quicken software to produce the financial reports the board needs. Because Quicken is oriented to business applications and the library does not fit the profile exactly there has been confusion about tailoring the reports to fit the library’s operations. More relevant, useful reports should be forthcoming. It was also reported that the new wireless system recently installed included a separate router that insures that the library’s operational information remains secure.
Library Director’s report: The “Knit and Stitch” sessions are resuming Wed., Jan. 4th after the holiday break. Suzanne would like to change the time from 7:00 PM to 6:00 PM. She will ask the participants how that would affect their participation.
An open house was held for Lydia Miller’s art exhibit currently on display. There were 4 people who attended to hear Lydia talk about her work.
The first joint book discussion with the Ctr. Harbor Library will be held at the Ctr. Harbor Library at 7:00 PM. on Jan. 25th beginning at 7:00 PM. The series includes 6 books by local authors.
Amanda Loud moved, Larry Webster seconded and the vote was unanimous (4-0) to remove the word “free” from the library web site address reflecting the name change voted on and accepted at a previous meeting.
Ongoing Business: Discussion of the library addition project took up the remainder of the meeting. Amanda Loud moved, Sandy Ray seconded a motion to seek plans for an addition to the library from one other firm. More discussion ensued to the point where it was decided to table the motion until the next meeting.
Next Meeting: Feb. 10th at 9:00 AM in the Holderness Library.
Amanda Loud moved, Susan Beeson seconded and the vote was unanimous (4-0) in favor of adjourning.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandy Ray
