Library Trustees Meeting Minutes 09/06/06
The Town of Holderness, New Hampshire
Holderness Library
Board of Trustees Meeting
September 6, 2006

Meeting Minutes

In Attendance:
Trustees:  Sandy Ray, Larry Webster, Susan Beeson, Kay Hanson, Todd Elgin
Library Director:  Suzanne Peoples

The minutes of the previous meeting were amended and approved.

Repairs to the lower level wall cost $2,300.  The Town of Holderness has insurance with a $1,000 deductible that may cover this.  It has been speculated that a car rolling into the wall from the parking lot had caused the damage.   Randy Eastman re-graded around the lower door for drainage purposes.

The Newyl Fund CD will mature next week.  It was decided to keep the funds in a CD.  The trustees hope to use the funds for an appropriate donation when the Library expansion is completed.

A bat exterminator will be coming to access and deal with the Library’s bat problem.

Should the Library expand its operating hours to keep the library open in the evenings?  Suzanne and Lydia will explore this possibility for a decision at our next meeting.

Director’s Report
The library had a busy and successful summer.  Story Time went well with over 20 children attending per time.  An estimated 42 children attended the Steve Blunt performance.

The book group will be starting up soon.  The first book for reading and discussion is slated to be the Poisonwood Bible.

Friends of the Library
Four people are on the sign up sheet.  Carol Snelling expressed an interest in co chairing the Friends revitalization.  Susan Beeson will be the liaison form the trustee board.  She will contact Carol and help her get started with this endeavor.

Library Budget 2007
Suzanne and Larry will present a 2007 budget draft at our next meeting.  Particular attention will need to be paid to the capital improvement budget.

Performance Review
This year’s performance review will focus on how to work to make the library better.  The form from previous reviews will be used to check the review parameters.  The trustees plan to present the review in a different format.

Other
The library website is in need of up dating.  Suzanne will look into this.  Trustees should prepared be prepared for picture taking at the next meeting.

A proper picture hanging system needs to be installed on the library walls.  One of the art works on display in the current exhibit fell from the wall.

Next meeting will be at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at the Holderness Library.

Respectfully submitted by,
Kay Hanson, Secretary for the Holderness Library Trustees
