Holderness Library
Board of Trustees Meeting
February 11, 2008
Minutes
In attendance:
Library Trustees: Kay Hanson, Sandy Ray, Wendell Broom, Larry Webster
The minutes of the February 4th meeting were accepted as presented.
After a brief discussion Kay moved to hire Jean Perkins to assist Lydia Miller for up to 18 hours / week on a temporary basis. Wendell seconded and the motion passed.
A new copy machine will arrive sometime this afternoon. The new machine is being placed in the library on a "demo" basis with a 60 day deferred payment plan. The Library Friends will be asked to donate money to defray the cost of the new copier.
Extensive edits were made to the job description draft. Sandy moved to adopt the Library Director Job Description as amended. Kay seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The audit of the financial records is complete. The library will be notified by mail of any errors. No errors or problems are anticipated.
The summer reading materials have been ordered. The reading program usually hosts two guest performing artists. Musician and entertainer, Steve Blunt will be asked to return. A grant from CHLIS will assist in paying the cost of Steve Blunt. The Library Friends will be asked to help fund the second performer.
The remaining meetings with Sue Murphy are monthly follow up sessions to keep the critical goals plan on track. She is waiting for each trustee to finalize the section of the critical goals statement that they are responsible for. Sue will then compile the final version of the report so she can prepare three bound copies for the library and the trustees.
Library policies will need to be reviewed and updated when the new library director comes on board. The policies are usually brought forth by the library director, and then approved by the trustees.
The State Library Statistics Report needs to be compiled. Lydia will need to start working on this as soon as possible.
So far eight resumes have been received. The trustees reviewed these.
The employment policy that includes salary, benefits, days off, sick leave procedures etc. needs to be updated and compiled in time for interviewing applicants for the position of Library Director.
The library director job posting will be placed again in the Sunday edition of the Union Leader and on monster.com.
Larry, Sandy, and Wendell will meet at noon on February 12, 2008 at the library to discuss and compile interview questions.
The next trustee meeting will be 8:30 AM, Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at the library.
Respectfully submitted,
Kay Hanson, Secretary for the Holderness Library Trustees
