Holderness Library
Board of Trustees’ Meeting
April 5, 2006
Meeting Minutes
In Attendance:
Trustees: Kay Hanson, Susan Beeson, Sandy Ray, Larry Webster, Todd Elgin
Library Director: Suzanne Peoples
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed, amended and accepted.
The financial report was presented in the Library’s new Quick Books format. The Treasure’s Report was discussed and accepted as presented.
Todd Elgin was welcomed to the Library Board as a newly appointed member.
Library Director’s Report
The book discussion groups held in conjunction with the Nichols Library in Center Harbor continue to be a success. Approximately 15 people were at last week’s discussion.
The back up battery pack for the circulation desk computer had to be replaced. This will cost $45 plus the service charge.
286 patrons used the library during the month of March.
There will be a Library Trustee Seminar in Concord in June. Todd has decided to attend this.
New Business
The book and DVD, Radical Simplicity have been purchased for the Library. It is hoped the library will become a sustainable living resource for the community. Book displays will be reflecting this theme.
The library minutes will be emailed to the Town Offices to be posted on the Town website. Kay will also send the Town Offices the meeting notices for posting. Sandy will be sending them the meeting agendas for posting.
Sandy would like to have a $1 sale of used donated items as a fundraiser. To do this the Friends of the Library group needs to be revitalized. Suzanne was asked to bring a list of frequent library users to our next meeting. It is hoped that patrons from this list might be interested in becoming Library Friends.
Old Business
The lilies that have been in Susan’s guardianship over the winter will be planted around the edges of the new sign. The Library yard needs liming, and a trough under the drip edge needs to be filled in. The trustees will have a workday in the last week of April to accomplish this.
A new American flag was purchased. The old flag had been snagged and ripped on the flagpole’s decorative eagle.
The town of Holderness is still in the process of hiring a cleaning service to look after all town buildings. The service would be involved as cleaning and lawn mowing.
Library Expansion
Larry had received two sets of preliminary sketches from Pinnacle Builders. Larry will discuss these drawings further with Dave Driscoll. The Trustees will meet at some soon (in April) to review the plans.
Next Meeting
The next regular meeting of the Library Board of Trustees will be 9:00 AM, May 10, 2006 at the Holderness Library.
Respectfully submitted,
Kay Hanson, Secretary, Holderness Library Trustees
