Holderness Recreation Board Meeting
December 20, 2004

Board Members Present Board Members Present:      Wendy Werner, Director,     Tom Stepp (chair),    Sam Laverack   (Selectman )       Biff Sutcliffe (secretary),       Peter Durnan,      Jay Fogarty,          Janis Messier      Wendy Mersch,    Marty Riehs

1.) Secretary’s Report:
        Minutes of 26 October. 2004 were approved.
        Minutes of 1 December, 2004 were approved.

2.) Budget Report (2004):
        Recreation:  Nothing new to report – last purchases have not yet been posted and we await the final report for the year.
        Beach: No changes since last report.

3) Budget Report (2005):
Tom reported that he and Sam have communicating and have put together the following:
Beach:
      Due to a perceived need to increase the wages for the up-coming year for Beach Attendants Tom and Sam increased this line item by $500.  Everything else remains the same as 2004.

Recreation:
     This budget was submitted using the same request as 2004.

4) Current Programs:
        Wendy presented a draft of what will be the new Newsletter and described many of her ideas and talked about the contacts she has made in the first few weeks of work.  The Board voiced enthusiasm for the layout and contents of he Newsletter as well as the many ideas she shared.  She will continue to follow-up on her leads and develop a full Newsletter for distribution in the near future.
        Wendy reported that skating as been quite popular.  She is in the process of setting up a Games Day that will be held at HCS.  Wendy has done this sort of activity in previous years with great success.  She has ordered the necessary sports toys for this activity on the 2004 budget.

5) Day Camp Developments:
        Considerable discussion focused on some possible connections of the Day Camp program with the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center.  Tom has been in direct contact with the Science Center leadership and he and Wendy will continue these discussions.  
        Wendy also reported that she has begun early talks with the folks at Longhaul Farm about possible Day Camp activities at the farm as well as possible winter and spring Recreation Programs.

6) Other:
        Wendy reported that she has been in contact with Peter Fermanick about the removal of a dead tree at the Town Beach.  He told Wendy that he would be willing to take it down as long as it did not involve the power lines.  Wendy will follow-up by flagging the tree and having Peter check it out.
