Holderness Recreation Board Meeting
August 15, 2005
Board Members Present: Wendy Werner, Director, Tom Stepp (chair), Sam Laverack (Selectman ) Biff Sutcliffe (secretary), Peter Durnan, Jay Fogarty, Janis Messier Wendy Mersch, Marty Riehs
1.) Secretary’s Report:
As we did not have a quorum at the July 11th meeting. There are no formal minutes to report. At this meeting Biff presented a check for $700 from Camp Deerwood to Wendy for the Scholarship account. Tom and Biff and Wendy reviewed the latest news about the Day Camp.
The minutes of the June 6th meeting were read and accepted.
2.) Day Camp Review: Angie Ricciardi prepared a thorough and formal review/report. The members present were very impressed with the quality and insightfulness of the report. Preliminary accounting shows us with $5,41.70 in income and $12,071 in expenses. These values still need to be corrected for scholarship funds the still need to be applied.
Wendy reported that Angie did a wonderful job of leading the program and introducing new enthusiasm. Wendy said she felt comfortable and confident with the working relationship between the two of them. The Board is extremely thankful for the fine work of this summer's Day Camp staff and particularly of Angie's contributions.
3.) Beach Up-Date:
Wendy reported that the lawnmower is not working. Biff said that he would work on it within the next couple of days and get it back to the shed.
Tom mentioned that the ladder on the float was broken and that Morgan Stepp had already taken the broken ladder off and replaced it with one from his float. Tom will work on getting the broken ladder welded.
Wendy reported that the summer Beach Staff worked out well. She also reported that on a few occasions both parking lots were packed. Parking is tight on the warmest days!
The swimming lesson program ran well with 35 children involved. Joyce Warburton ran a fine program and we are thankful for her good work.
4.) Current Programs:
Baseball and archery clinics did not run due to a lack of numbers.
Wendy is developing a list of programs for the fall.
5) Correspondence:
Wendy will be meeting with a representative from ACE to learn more about this program.
