Holderness Recreation Board Meeting
February 16, 2009

1) Minutes of 19 January 2009 were approved.
2) Budget Update – Based on new 18 month budget
Recreation ($18,035.89) Beach ($7,974.68)

3) Programs-
• Hockey and Dodge Ball are going very well.
• Archery – 5 have signed up – need three more to make it “go”.
• Volleyball continues to go well.
• Vacation week activities are planned and a flyer went home from HCS.
4) Camp/Beach Update-
• The Selectmen decided to deny the request from Squam Docks for permission to use the Town
Beach as a staging area to launch their work barge.
• We may need a swim instructor for the summer. Wendy has asked Joyce Warburton to make a
decision soon so we can advertise for a replacement instructor.
• Wendy will be securing the summer staff and Town Beach attendants in the coming weeks. It
looks as though we will require one full-time counselor and one half-time.
• Holderness Recreation will team up with Ashland Recreation for four combined field trips during
the summer programs.
• Wendy has almost completed the submittal of a grant request to the USTA
(Tennis Association) for supplies etc. to add to our summer camp offerings.
• Wendy will be meeting with an interested parent regarding establishing a gardening program
for kids.
• Some contact has been made with Little Church Theater for collaboration with the Summer
Concert Series should the funds be approved in Town Meeting.
5) Correspondence- We received a thank you from the HCS PTA for our contribution of a camper-ship
to our summer program.
6) Other – Wendy reported that she is now the region coordinator of the New Hampshire Recreation
and Parks Association and in that capacity had a successful regional meeting at the
Safety Building on February 4th.
