Dog Licenses

Every owner or keeper of a dog 4 months old or older shall register the dog annually with the town clerk. At the time of registration the owner will receive a metal tag with the following information - name of the town, year of the issue of the license and its registered number. This tag is to be affixed to the dog's collar. Regardless of when the license is obtained, it shall be effective from May 1st of each year to April 30th of the subsequent year.

Vaccination Required

Before a license is issued the owner or keeper of the dog, must furnish verification that the dog has been vaccinated against rabies. If a valid rabies certificate is on file with the clerk, the owner shall not be required to produce such verification at the time of license.

Failure to License

If a dog owner or keeper should fail to license his/her dog in a timely manner, the town clerk shall notify the local law enforcement officer of a violation of RSA 466:1.

Fees

  • $6.50 - Puppies 3-7 months old
  • $6.50 - Spayed and neutered dogs
  • $2.00 - Dogs owned by senior citizens (for first dog only)
  • $9.00 - Male / Female
  • $20.00 - Group license (5 dog minimum)
